Snow Hill, Md. – The Worcester County Health Department will celebrate National Public Health Week 2014 by hosting its 5th Annual Public Health Conference for invited community partners on Wednesday, April 16 at the Carousel Hotel in Ocean City.
Community leaders from public health, local hospitals, nursing homes, government, business, law enforcement, education, nonprofits and other sectors will attend the conference to discuss and hear the latest news about a number of exciting public health topics. The agenda includes sessions about Worcester health system reform, rabies, and a community conversation about mental health.
In addition to the conference, Worcester County Health Department will offer a program to get families out and moving before Public Health Week. The 17th Annual Tortoise and Hare Dare 5k Walk/Run will be Saturday, April 5 at Pocomoke River State Park – Shad Landing. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. The event will also feature health and community exhibits from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
